SEWARD, Neb. – Starting with the 2017-18 academic year, the Bulldog Athletic Association began naming male and female athletes of the month. Nominees for the monthly award will be comprised of the Bulldog Athletic Association athletes of the week throughout that month. The athletes of the month for November were voted on by attendees at the Dec. 5 Athletic Association luncheon. Recipients of the monthly awards will receive plaques from the athletic department.
The Bulldog Athletic Association Athletes of the Month of November are junior Quinn Wragge of the women’s basketball program and Tarence Roby of the football program.
Roby also earned athlete of the month recognition for his efforts in September. The native of Rockford, Ill., capped his senior season by earning first team All-GPAC accolades as a defensive back and second team recognition as a return man. One of his outings in November was a two-interception performance in a win at Briar Cliff. He concluded the year with 31 tackles, seven pass breakups and four interceptions, including one that resulted in a 100-yard return for a touchdown. Roby amassed more than 1,000 all-purpose yards in 2017 (718 kick return, 166 punt return, 151 interception return).
Already a two-time first team All-GPAC honoree, Wragge moved past 1,000 career points last week as the 25th player in program history to accomplish that feat. Following a big month of November, the Crofton, Neb., native continues to lead the team in scoring at 13.8 points per game. Wragge earned GPAC player of the week honors on Nov. 21 after leading Concordia to a 70-66 win at eighth-ranked Dakota Wesleyan. She is also averaging 5.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.3 steals and is shooting 61.2 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the free throw line. The Bulldogs are a perfect 9-0 and ranked No. 2 nationally.
