Placke, Quinn chosen as final BAAM Athletes of the Month for 2021-22

SEWARD, Neb. – For their performances throughout the calendar month, Kendra Placke (golf) and Jaidan Quinn (baseball) have been selected as the Bulldog Athletic Association Member (BAAM) Athletes of the Month for April 2022. Placke and Quinn were winners of a vote conducted on Tuesday (May 3) at the BAAM luncheon. They are the final BAAM Athletes of the Month for the 2021-22 academic year. The full list of honorees over the past year can be found at the bottom of this release.

A Seward High School alum, Placke will go down as one of the top performers in the history of Concordia Women’s Golf. She completed her career on April 26 by placing third on the GPAC individual leaderboard. In the process, Placke broke a school record for lowest 72-hole GPAC Championship score (317). The month of April also saw Placke claim back-to-back tournament titles as she won the Concordia Bulldog Invite (April 5) with a three-over-par 75 and the Hastings Invite (April 11-12) with a 15-over-par 77-82–159. As a result, Placke was named the GPAC Golfer of the Week on April 13 and April 20. As a senior in 2021-22, Placke earned the fourth, fifth and sixth tournament wins of her collegiate career. She will graduate from Concordia with school records for lowest career scoring average (80.7) and for lowest single-season average (79.8 in 2021-22). Placke is a four-time All-GPAC award winner.

A native of Bonner Springs, Kan., Quinn has enjoyed a fine first season in Bulldog blue. During the month of April, the Concordia third baseman batted .393 (24-for-61) with 23 runs, four doubles, five home runs, 14 RBIs, a .548 on-base percentage and .705 slugging percentage in 20 games. He was named the GPAC Player of the Week on April 5. Quinn closed out the month with two home runs in the regular season finale at Dordt. Those two blasts pushed him into the team lead with 14 homers on the 2022 season. On the year, Quinn has also compiled 47 runs, eight doubles and 42 RBIs and sports team highs for on-base percentage (.517) and slugging percentage (.731). Quinn and the Bulldogs own a 31-14-1 overall record and placed second in the GPAC regular season standings.

BAAM Athletes of the Month are rewarded out of the pool of student-athletes that garner BAAM Athlete of the Week recognition throughout the month.
