SEWARD, Neb. – As voted upon at Tuesday (Jan. 15)’s Bulldog Athletic Association Member luncheon, junior Philly Lammers of the women’s basketball program and junior Tanner Shuck of the men’s basketball program have been named the Bulldog Athletic Association Athletes of the Month of December 2018. Nominees for the monthly award are comprised of the Bulldog Athletic Association Athletes of the Week throughout that month. Recipients of the monthly awards will receive plaques from the athletic department.

Starting with the 2017-18 academic year, the Bulldog Athletic Association began naming male and female athletes of the month. Deeter and Ferrer are both first-time recipients of the monthly honor.

Lammers, a native of Omaha, Neb., enjoyed a stellar month of December, during which the Bulldog women’s basketball team went 5-0 with wins over No. 1 Dakota Wesleyan and No. 2 Southeastern University (Fla.). Over those five contests, Lammers averaged 18.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting 65.5 percent from the field and 78.9 percent from the free throw line. Following the victory at Dakota Wesleyan, Lammers was tabbed the GPAC Player of the Week. Named a first team NAIA All-American in 2017-18, Lammers has produced career totals of 1,278 points, 701 rebounds, 219 steals and 127 blocked shots over 94 games. This marks the fourth time that Lammers has been voted the Bulldog Athletic Association Female Athlete of the Month. She earned the award three times as a sophomore.

Shuck, who hails from Grand Island, Neb., has played a key role ever since arriving at Concordia. He averaged 13.8 points and 5.0 rebounds over six games in the month of December for the Bulldog men’s basketball team. Overall this season, Shuck is averaging 15.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 42.2 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from beyond the arc. Recently, Shuck became the 30th player in Concordia men’s basketball history to reach 1,000 career points.
