SEWARD, Neb. – Sophomore Carter Kent of the men’s basketball program and junior Kara Stark of the volleyball program have been named the Bulldog Athletic Association Member (BAAM) Athletes of the Month of November 2019. The two standout student-athletes were winners of voting that took place at the BAAM luncheon on Tuesday (Dec. 10). Nominees for the monthly award are comprised of the BAAM Athletes of the Week throughout that month. Recipients of the monthly awards will receive plaques from the athletic department.
Starting with the 2017-18 academic year, the Bulldog Athletic Association Members began naming male and female athletes of the month.
Named the 2018-19 GPAC Freshman of the Year, Kent continues to progress as a budding star for head coach Ben Limback’s team. Over five games during the month of November, Kent averaged 15.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 47.2 percent (25-for-53) from the field and 38.5 percent (10-for-26) from 3-point range. Kent poured in a career high 28 points in the 95-71 win over Midland on Nov. 12. Kent notched Concordia’s first 20 points in that particular game. On the season, the Crete native is averaging 12.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists and is shooting 41.9 percent (36-for-86) from the floor. The Bulldogs are currently 7-2 overall (2-2 GPAC).
Stark garnered honorable mention All-GPAC status in her third collegiate season. The native of Frisco, Texas, totaled 44 kills (2.75 per set) and hit .205 as an outside hitter during the month of November, which featured four matches for Concordia volleyball. In those outings, Stark recorded 10 or more kills three times and had 14 in the GPAC semifinal matchup at Jamestown. The 6-foot-2 Stark finished the 2019 season with 293 kills (2.73 per set), 43 blocks and a .158 hitting percentage. Stark helped lead the Bulldogs to a 25-8 overall record and trip to the round of 16 at the NAIA Volleyball National Championship.
