SEWARD, Neb. – For their performances throughout the calendar month, Rebecca Gebhardt of the volleyball program and Noah Schutte of the men’s basketball program have been selected as the Bulldog Athletic Association Member (BAAM) Athletes of the Month for November 2022. Gebhardt and Schutte were winners of a vote conducted on Tuesday (Dec. 6) at the BAAM luncheon. Concordia Volleyball has raked in monthly awards in September, October and November for the fall 2022 semester.
While attackers often get attention, Rebecca Gebhardt enjoyed a fine season leading the back row for the fourth-ranked Bulldogs. During the month of November, Gebhardt started all six matches at libero and totaled 103 digs (4.68 per set) and seven aces. The native of Norfolk, Neb., and Lutheran High School Northeast alum collected 21 digs, 35 service receptions and two aces in the five-set win at No. 3 Midland in the GPAC tournament semifinals. Over the team’s three national tournament matches, Gebhardt contributed 58 digs in 11 sets while up against Florida College, Hastings and No. 13 Park University (Mo.). Gebhardt was honored as an Honorable Mention All-GPAC selection. She finished the season with a team high 503 digs (4.66 per set), a number that ranked 79th nationally.
The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge High School alum Noah Schutte has taken his game to another level in his third season as a Bulldog. Schutte was named the GPAC Player of the Week on Nov. 22 after he spearheaded wins over Midland and Dordt. During the month, Schutte averaged 18.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 61.2 percent from the floor and 84.1 percent from the foul line. In the eight games in November, Schutte notched at least 17 points in seven of them. The Laurel, Neb., native was named to the 2022 NAIA National Championship All-Tournament Team. Schutte entered the week with averages of 16.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. He has helped Concordia to a 7-2 record and an NAIA national ranking of 19th.
BAAM Athletes of the Month are rewarded out of the pool of student-athletes that garner BAAM Athlete of the Week recognition throughout the month.
