Learfield NAIA Directors’ Cup Standings

SEWARD, Neb. – An impressive winter sports season has Concordia University athletics soaring up the 2016-17 Learfield Directors’ Cup NAIA Standings. With 330.0 points, the Bulldogs are listed 14th among all NAIA schools.

The Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings are designed to “honor institutions that maintain a broad-based program, achieve success in many sports, both men's and women's, in which all sports that the NAIA offers a championship, and all student-athletes that compete in those sports, are treated equally.” The Learfield Directors' Cup is awarded annually to the nation's best overall collegiate athletics program.

The standings are based on success at the national level. The winter proved fruitful for the Bulldogs, who won conference championships in women’s basketball and wrestling while making waves on the national landscape.

Bulldog teams produced the following national finishes this winter:

  • Men’s Indoor Track & Field – 2nd
  • Women’s Basketball – Semifinalist (ranked 3rd in postseason poll)
  • Women’s Indoor Track & Field – 7th
  • Wrestling – 15th

With a strong spring, Concordia could claim its third-straight top-20 Learfield Directors’ Cup finish. Concordia placed 18th in 2014-15 and then 16th in 2015-16. According to data that dates back to the 1996-97 academic year, the Bulldogs posted their highest-ever finish of ninth in 2004-05. In its history Concordia has also claimed the GPAC All-Sports Trophy three times (2002-03, 2004-05 and 2014-15).
