Dr. John D. Hosler (Ph.D. University of Delaware) is an associate professor of military history at the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS. An expert on medieval warfare, his latest book is The Siege of Acre, 1189-1191: Saladin, Richard the Lionheart, and the Battle that Decided the Third Crusade (Yale University Press, 2018), which was named a Best Book of 2018 by both the Times Literary Supplement and The Financial Times. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, a Trustee of the United States Commission for Military History, and the current President of De Re Militari: the Society for Medieval Military History.
