Six tabbed 2006 All-GPAC, Flaten and Beckman named first-team

The Concordia University, Nebraska tennis teams has placed six individuals and three doubles teams on the 2006 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) All-Conference team.

On the men’s side, junior Dean Flaten (Wayzata, Minn.) earned first-team honors at No. 1 singles while junior Paul Endorf (St. Louis, Mo.) was an honorable mention singles selection. The duo of Endorf and Flaten paired up to handle the Bulldogs No.1 doubles spot this year and was recognized as an honorable mention doubles team.

For the women four individuals were honored. Freshman Erinn Beckman (Springfield, Mo.) garnered first-team honors at No. 3 singles. Three other Bulldogs were tabbed honorable mention selections in singles play including senior Melissa Burger (Kearney, Neb.) and juniors Chris Brink (Storm Lake, Iowa) and Randi Eggers (Battle Creek, Neb.).

Beckman and fellow freshman Leah Koopman (Hastings, Neb.) were one of two of Concordia’s doubles teams that were named honorable mention selections. The other was made up of sophomore Jess Svajhart (Dallas, Texas) and junior Chelsey Bartels (Grand Island, Neb.).

Five named 2006 NAIA Scholar-Athletes

The Concordia University, Nebraska tennis teams had five players named 2006 NAIA Daktronics All-America Scholar-Athletes. The women’s squad had an impressive four student-athletes honored, tied for the the most of any team in the NAIA.

In order to be recognized as a NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete, individuals must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and be a junior or above in academic standing. Those receiving the honor were:
