The highest scoring team in the GPAC met its match on Wednesday (Oct. 4) as the Bulldogs were shut out by visiting Morningside, 1-0. The Mustangs got a goal in the 25th minute and road it to victory inside Bulldog Stadium.
Having gone unbeaten (5-0-1) in the last six matchups, Concordia will be challenged by two foes (Morningside and Jamestown) who sit near the top of the GPAC. Coach Nick Smith’s young squad is 8-2-1 overall and 4-0-1 GPAC.
Concordia scored six unanswered, thumping Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday (Sept. 30), toward their 6-1 win at Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
Two teams with 3-0 conference marks went head-to-head on Wednesday (Sept. 27) as Concordia and Midland renewed their rivalry. The Bulldogs (7-2-1) settled for a 1-1 draw after having enjoyed a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Kierstynn Garner (Offense) and Hannah Kile (Defense) were named GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Soccer Players of the Week by the league office on Tuesday (Sept. 26).
Concordia has shut out their last two opponents but will host a talented Midland squad on Wednesday (Sept. 27), then ride up to Dakota Wesleyan for their second match of the week on Saturday (Sept. 30).
Playing after the men’s game, which has become common in the 2023 season, left a field that was wet and torn before Concordia matched up against Northwestern.
Savannah Andrews and Kierstynn Garner continued to terrorize foes in the attacking third while leading a 4-0 rout of Dordt on Wednesday. Defender Hannah Kile also found the back of the net as the Bulldogs moved to 6-2 this season.
Concordia will continue to match up against more conference foes this week, facing Dordt (Sept. 20) in the midweek, and traveling to Northwestern in the match on Saturday (Sept. 23).
In the previous 21 meetings, the Concordia women’s soccer team had never lost to Mount Marty. Saturday (Sept. 16) was no different.
