Philly Lammers and Quinn Wragge both recorded double-doubles in leading second-ranked Concordia to a 68-57 win over No. 17 Indiana Tech at the Hoop N Surf Classic on Monday (Dec. 19). The Bulldogs have won 14 in a row.
For the second time in five years, the Concordia women's basketball program will take part in the Hoop N Surf Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Bulldogs will play two nationally-ranked opponents at the event.
Now ranked second in the national coaches' poll, Concordia women's basketball will be at Dordt on Friday before a quick turnaround trip to Hawaii. The Bulldogs are riding a 13-game winning streak.
The win streak carries on for seventh-ranked Concordia, which pulverized visiting Northwestern on Saturday, 91-44. Junior Mary Janovich dished out 11 assists and Philly Lammers totaled a game high 18 points.
A sparkling second half turned a tight game into a surprisingly comfortable win in a challenging road environment. No. 7 Concordia made a statement with an 80-52 victory at No. 9 Morningside.
This week seventh-ranked Concordia will play two teams accustomed to GPAC and national success. First up for national player of the week Mary Janovich and the Bulldogs is a trip to No. 9 Morningside.
After helping lead Concordia to a win over No. 1 Dakota Wesleyan, junior guard Mary Janovich has been named the GPAC and NAIA national player of the week. She scored 19 points and dished out five assists versus Dakota Wesleyan.
In a heart stopper, seventh-ranked Concordia took down top-ranked and previously unbeaten Dakota Wesleyan, 85-82, on Saturday afternoon. Shelby Quinn led the Bulldogs (6-0 GPAC) with 20 points.
Mary Janovich totaled 16 points and six rebounds while celebrating her birthday and a Bulldog victory. No. 7 Concordia cruised past College of Saint Mary, 95-56, on Wednesday night.
Riding a nine-game win streak, Concordia women's basketball is up to No. 7 in this week's national poll. Before Saturday's showdown with No. 1 Dakota Wesleyan, the Bulldogs host College of Saint Mary on Wednesday.
