As a student in the biochemistry major at Concordia Nebraska, you’ll have the opportunity to take specialized courses related to various aspects of the biochemistry profession. These classes, designed to equip you for leadership and service in various biochemistry careers, are taught by some of our esteemed faculty who have extensive experience in their fields.

General Biology I 4 credits
Lecture 3, Lab. 2. A study of general biology: Science as a way of knowing — Scientific methodology and practice; literacy in biological literature and research, study of cells and molecular biology, cell organelles, inclusions, function, and a study of genetics.
CHEM 116
General Chemistry II 3 credits
Lecture 3, Lab. 3. A continuation of general chemistry: chemical kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, oxidation-reduction chemistry, and fundamental qualitative analysis.
MATH 184
Calculus I 4 credits
A beginning course in the analysis of functions including analytic geometry. A study of limits, techniques and applications of differentiation, basic integration and transcendental functions.
BIO 399
Research in Biology 3 credits
Upper-level students will perform biological research under supervision of biology faculty and with assistance of students who are registered for BIO 299. Bio 299 and Bio 399 students will meet as one class but will have different course requirements. Writing Intensive course.
