Concordia University presented “Arcadia”
Concordia University’s theatre department presented “Arcadia” Feb. 17-19 and Feb. 24-25, 2006.
Written by British playwright Tom Stoppard, “Arcadia” won the 1995 New York Drama Critics Circle award. Characters in this intellectual comedy uncovered a possible duel between the poet Lord Byron and another poet that may have taken place 200 years ago at the elegant Coverly estate. Scenes that occurred in 1806 were presented alongside scenes that occur in the present, playfully exploring the ideals of the 1800s, our understanding of the universe and how knowledge is lost and recovered.
The play was performed in Concordia’s Studio Theatre, located on the lower level of the Music Center.
