Memo to faculty and staff regarding graduation

Graduation 2013 weekend activities/Baccalaureate and Commencement


This memo is to serve as a reminder to faculty and an invitation to professional/technical staff that have administrative or teaching responsibilities to participate in the baccalaureate service and graduation commencement.

 

A baccalaureate service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church Friday, May 10, at 7 p.m. We will not wear academic vestments for this service nor will we sit together, process and recess. Faculty and professional/technical staff will participate as part of the congregation, sitting among the families and friends of the graduates. To be guaranteed seating, please arrive early.

 

The chancel party will assemble in the Centennial Room at 6:40 p.m.

 

A reception will follow the baccalaureate service in the St. John Fellowship Hall.

 

Commencement is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, at 10 a.m. in the Walz Human Performance Complex. Academic vestments will be worn.

 

All faculty and participating professional/technical staff should meet in the Walz Trainer's Room 011 and line up for the processional by 9:40 a.m. For commencement, men will remove hats only for the invocation, prayer, national anthem and benediction.

 

The graduates will attend a rehearsal in the Walz on Friday, May 10, at 1:30 p.m. If you have specific duties at graduation you should attend this rehearsal.

 

If you do not plan to participate in graduation, please inform Jan Marschman at extension 7230. Faculty should also send a written request for excused absence to Provost Jenny Mueller-Roebke.
