Volleyball Coaching Staff
Rachel Miller, head coach
Rachel Miller enters her fifth year as the head coach of the Bulldogs in 2010. Concordia went 11-22 overall and 3-13 in the GPAC in 2009. Miller holds a career record of 60-70 with a 25-39 mark in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
In her first year at the helm, the Bulldogs had their best start in school history, winning 18 straight matches to open the season. The Bulldogs had back-to-back seasons of at least 20 wins from 2005-07.
A native of Clarinda, Iowa, she was a four-year letterwinner at Concordia and graduated in 2003 with a B.S. degree in biology and chemistry.
Before taking over as head coach, Miller served as an assistant at Concordia. In addition, she has served as a club volleyball coach for the eight years.
During her playing days as a Bulldog, Miller was a four-time All-Conference selection, three-time All-American, and two-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete. She was three-time team MVP and the Concordia female Athlete-of-the-Year in 2002.
Miller and her husband, Karl, have three children, Mikayla, Kelsey and Kendall. The family resides in Seward.

Danielle Schmidt, assistant coach

Danielle Schmidt enters her second season as a member of the Concordia University volleyball coaching staff in 2010.
Schmidt, a native of Wellsburg, IA, has two years of coaching experience with Omeja Volleyball, a junior Olympic volleyball program in southern Minnesota. She also has several years of experience as a camp head coach at Minnesota State and the University of Minnesota.
As a player, Schmidt lettered for four years as a middle blocker at Minnesota State University. She helped lead the Mavericks to two NCAA Division II National Tournaments and was named to the conference All-Academic Team in 2007 and 2008.
Schmidt had over 300 blocks in her career and earned Defensive Player-of-the-Year honors twice during her time at Minnesota State. She also competed in Argentina with her MSU teammates in May of 2009.
Shelli Mohnike, assistant coach
Shelli Mohnike enters her first season as an assistant coach for the Concordia University volleyball team in 2010.
Mohnike was an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s volleyball teams at Missouri Baptist University from 2004-06. She helped the Missouri Baptist women’s team to the NAIA Final Four in 2005, while the men’s team reached the Final Four in 2005 and 2006.
Shelli attended Hastings College where she was a four-year letter winner for the Broncos from 2000-04. She was an AVCA All-American in 2003, earned several GPAC Player-of-the-Week honors and was an All-Conference performer from 2001-03.
Mohnike earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in English at Hastings College. She earned her master’s degree in Business Administration with a certificate in Sport Management at Missouri Baptist University.
Mohnike resides in Seward with her husband, Jesse.
