Softball announces 2015 schedule
SEWARD, Neb. – The 2015 Concordia softball squad will look to build upon the success of the 2014 edition when it opens up a new season next March. Head coach Todd LaVelle’s second season at the helm of the Bulldogs is set to open up at Bethany College on March 3. View the entire schedule HERE.
Concordia will return to Tucson, Ariz., where it got off to a 9-0 start to begin last season. The spring break trip will begin with games in The Grand Canyon State on March 10. The only opponent that has been confirmed for the trip is Arizona Christian University, which will play the Bulldogs in a doubleheader on March 13.
The rest of the non-conference slate includes familiar in-state foes such as Bellevue, Peru State and York. Concordia also has dates scheduled with Kansas Wesleyan (March 4), Presentation College (March 31) and Central Christian College (April 14).
The GPAC season opens up with Dordt College for a home doubleheader on March 21. The Bulldogs will get cozy at Plum Creek Park from March 18-31 with five home twin bills on the docket during that time period.
LaVelle’s first season was a rousing success as the Bulldogs went from 14-25 in 2013 to 32-16 in 2014. LaVelle led Concordia to its first-ever national tournament appearance and a GPAC tournament runner-up claim. The Bulldogs placed third during the regular season after being picked seventh in the preseason by league coaches.
