Women’s basketball releases 30-game 2014-15 regular season slate
SEWARD, Neb. – Concordia’s perennial powerhouse women’s basketball program announced a 30-game regular-season schedule on Monday. Drew Olson’s ninth season as head coach begins on Halloween with a trip to Mayville State as part of a North Dakota swing. The home slate tips off Nov. 7-8 with the annual Cattle Classic. The entire schedule can be viewed HERE (junior varsity included).
Once again the Bulldogs will test their mettle against a challenging non-conference schedule. Their first three opponents – Mayville State, Jamestown and Saint Xavier – all reached the national tournament last season. In addition, in-state Grace University comes on the schedule for a home and home (home – Nov. 18; away – Feb. 18).
In the annual Concordia Invitational Tournament, Bailey Morris and company take on Concordia-Chicago on Jan. 30 in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Cougars will be led by a new head coach in Rusty Rogers.
The GPAC schedule opens on Nov. 12 with a contest at Mount Marty. Concordia’s conference home opener is set for Nov. 15 when Morningside visits Walz Arena in a battle of two teams that shared the GPAC regular-season championship in 2013-14.
In a holiday season matchup, the Bulldogs welcome Friends University, a member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, to Seward for a Dec. 30 meeting. The Falcons went 25-8 and reached the national tournament last season.
Concordia’s eight scheduled nonconference foes combined for an overall record of 135-93 in 2013-14. The Bulldogs will play a total of seven teams (including conference rivals Hastings, Morningside and Northwestern) that won 25 or more games last season.
