Teams compete in Concordia/Doane Invitational

The Concordia women’s “A” golf team finished first in the Concordia/Doane Invitational held on Friday and Saturday.  Doane finished second, and the Concordia “B” team was third. 

Concordia “A” finished with a two-day total of 729.  Makenzie Deutschman won the event with a 169 (78-91), and Chelsea Peck finished in second with a 179 (83-96).  Jennifer Schulties (188) was fourth, Chelsea Karmann (195) was sixth and Katie Raphlet (201) was tied for eighth for Concordia’s “A” team. 

The Concordia “B” team finished with a two-day total of 866.  Alyssa Hedlund had a 207 and finished 11th to lead the “B” team.  Danielle Durham (216) was 13th, Meghan Pinter (220) was 16th and Madison Phillips (250) was 18th for the Concordia “B” squad.

Concordia will compete in the first GPAC Qualifier in Sioux Falls on Sept. 15.

Bulldogs ninth at GPAC Qualifier #1

The Concordia women’s golf team finished ninth at the first GPAC Qualifier held in Sioux Falls on Tuesday.  Concordia finished with a 371 on the day.  

Dakota Wesleyan won the event with a 320, and Sioux Falls was second with a 322.  Morningside (338) was third, while Briar Cliff and Northwestern College tied for fourth with a score of 344.  Hastings College (345) was sixth, Dana College (359) was seventh and Nebraska Wesleyan finished in eighth with a 361.  Concordia was ninth with a 371, Doane (400) was 10th and Mount Marty College finished in 11th with a score of 483. 

Individually for the Bulldogs, Chelsea Peck shot a team-best 86 to finish in a tie for 16th overall.  Chelsea Karmann finished in a tie for 30th with a 93, and Makenzie Deutschman was tied for 36th with a 94.  Other golfers for the Bulldogs included Hannah Koops and Alyssa Hedlund.  Koops was 42nd with a score of 98, and Hedlund finished in a tie for 46th with a 102 for the day.

The Concordia women will take part in the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational on Sept. 20-21 in Lincoln.

Concordia finishes eighth at Nebraska Wesleyan Fall Invite

The Concordia University women’s golf team finished eighth at the Nebraska Wesleyan Fall Invite on Sunday and Monday in Lincoln.  The meet consisted of 10 teams, and the Bulldogs finished with a two-day total of 782.

Truman State University finished in first place with a 645, and Dakota Wesleyan was second with a 665.  Rockhurst University (697) was third, Dana College (70l) was fourth and Hastings College (710) rounded out the top five.  Briar Cliff University (720) and Nebraska Wesleyan (721) finished in sixth and seventh, respectively, while Doane (817) and Peru State College (850) finished ninth and tenth. 

Individually for Concordia, Chelsea Peck tied for 19th with a two-day total of 177 (85-92).  Makenzie Deutschman was 30th with a 185 (87-98).  Other top finishers for the Bulldogs were Jennifer Schulties in 48th with a 204 (97-107) and Danielle Durham in 58th with a 218 (106-112). 

The Concordia women will return to action at the second GPAC Qualifier on Oct. 5 in Lincoln. 

Concordia finishes third at Doane College Invite

The Concordia University golf teams participated in the Doane College Invite on Monday and Tuesday. The women’s team placed third out of four teams.

On the women’s side, Morningside College took home first place with a team score of 762.  Nebraska Wesleyan was second with a 773, Concordia was third with an 880 and Doane College was fourth with a 941. 

Makenzie Deutschman placed eighth overall to lead the Concordia women.  Deutschman finished with a two-day total of 202.  Danielle Durham was 11th with a 214, Alyssa Hedlund was 18th with a 228 and Madison Phillips finished in 20th with a 263. 

The Concordia women will compete in the second GPAC Qualifier in Lincoln on Oct. 5. 

Concordia finishes ninth at GPAC Qualifier No. 2

The Concordia women’s golf team finished ninth at the second GPAC Qualifier held in Lincoln on Monday.  The Bulldogs had a team score of 365 and had one player finish in the top 20 individually.  Concordia was also ninth in the first GPAC Qualifier of the season. 

Dakota Wesleyan finished in first with a team score of 311.  The University of Sioux Falls was second with a 328, and Dana College finished close behind in third with a 332.  Hastings College was fourth with a 345, while Briar Cliff and Morningside tied for fifth with a 354.  Northwestern College (357) and Nebraska Wesleyan (362) finished in seventh and eighth.  Concordia (365), Doane College (403) and Mount Marty (493) rounded out the participants. 

Concordia’s Chelsea Peck finished in a tie for 19th with an 87 on the day.  Chelsea Karmann tied for 21st with an 89, and Makenzie Deutschman tied for 30th with a 92.  Jennifer Schulties tied for 41st with a 97, and Danielle Durham was 52nd with a 108. 

The women will now take the winter off and come back with GPAC Qualifier #3 on Saturday, April 10, at Dana College.  The fourth and final qualifier will be on May 6 at Briar Cliff.

Concordia opens season at Hastings College Spring Invite

The Concordia University women’s golf team competed in the Hastings College Spring Invite on Monday.  The Bulldogs finished sixth in the meet with a team score of 388.  Dakota Wesleyan took first place with a score of 328. 

Makenzie Deutschman was the top finisher for the Bulldogs.  Deutschman tied for 21st with a 93 (49-44).  Jennifer Schulties tied for 28th with a 96, and Chelsea Peck tied for 33rd with a 99.  Hannah Koops tied for 35th, and Madison Phillips finished in 44th for Concordia. 

Bulldogs ninth at third GPAC Qualifier

The Concordia women’s golf team placed ninth at the third GPAC Qualifier on Saturday.  The Bulldogs finished with a team score of 390 for the day.  Through three rounds, Dakota Wesleyan holds the lead with a 955 team score.  Concordia is ninth with a team score of 1126.

Bulldogs finish fourth at NWU Spring Invite

The Concordia University women’s golf team finished fourth at the Nebraska Wesleyan Spring Invite.  Three Concordia players finished in the top 20 overall, and the Bulldogs finished with a total score of 728. 

Sioux Falls won the event with a score of 655.  Hastings College was second at 685, and Nebraska Wesleyan was third with a score of 710.  Peru State College, Briar Cliff University and Doane College also participated in the meet. 

Chelsea Peck was the top individual finisher for the Bulldogs.  She shot a 175 (91-84) to finish in 10th place overall.  Makenzie Deutschman shot a 181 (91-90) to finish in 15th, and Jennifer Schulties tied for 16th with a 182 (91-91).  Hannah Koops was 22nd with a 190 (97-93), and Danielle Durham was 32nd at 219 (111-108). 

Schulteis and Raphelt named as 2010 scholar-athletes

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced that 86 student-athletes have been named 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Golf Scholar-Athletes. 

Jennifer Schulteis and Katherine Raphelt earned 2010 scholar-athlete honors for the Concordia University women.  Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.
