Concordia University, Nebraska’s trap and skeet team competed at a collegiate event for the first time as a full squad Sept. 27-28. The High Plains Roundup was held in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and the team placed 11 out of 15 teams in American trap and handicap trap and 12th in American skeet and sporting clays.

“It was great for me to finally see Concordia Bulldogs competing in a tournament after planning and organizing the team over the last year and a half,” said coach Dr. Joel Helmer. “For the team, competing against some of the nation’s top collegiate shooters was both thrilling and motivating.  The team quickly realized the competitiveness of the sport and the skill level necessary to compete at this level.”

The High Plains Roundup was hosted by the University of Wyoming and had 75 shooters total: 12 women and 63 men. The tournament consisted of four events: American trap, handicap trap, American skeet and sporting clays. Each competitor was allowed 100 shots for each event.
