Ran for the Eagles of Frankenmuth high school for four years ... He was team captain for two years ... As a sophomore he received First Team All-Conference and Saginaw County honors in cross country and First Team All-Conference in the mile and two mile in track ... Junior year he was Conference Champion in cross country, mile, two mile, and two mile relay ... He was also All-State in cross country, Regional Champion in the mile and relay, and State runner-up in the two mile relay ... Senior year he was Conference Champion in cross country, mile, two mile and two mile relay ... Broke his high school's 5k record in cross country and mile record in track ... He was State Champion in the two mile relay and placed third in the mile ... He was a member of the National Honor Society and received Academic All-State honors.
