Concordia University, Nebraska, women's track and field head coach, Dr. Kregg Einspahr, was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women’s Coach of the Year. Concordia won the women’s team title each scoring 158.5 points, 30 points better than second place Doane (128.50).
This is the third time in the last four years that Einspahr has earned the Women's Outdoor Track & Field Coach-of-the-Year, also earning the honor in 2009 and 2010. In his illustrious career, Einspahr has been named conference or regional Coach-of-the-Year for track or cross country more than 30 times.
Most recently, he was named 2008 and 2009 GPAC Men’s Cross Country Coach-of-the-Year, 2009 and 2010 GPAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Coach-of-the-Year and the 2009 GPAC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach-of-the-Year. The United State Track Coaches Association named Einspahr as NAIA National Women’s Cross Country Coach-of-the-Year in the fall of 1999.
"This award reflects the hard work our student-athletes did this year," said Einspahr. "I give a lot of credit to my assistant coaches, Ed McLaughlin and Mark Samuels. It's not just the head coach that earned this award, it’s the program."
