Concordia women close NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 15th

Five athletes competed for the Concordia University, Nebraska, Outdoor Track and Field teams on the final day of competition in the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Marion, Ind. on Saturday, May 26.  

Women's Recap
The Concordia women's team closed out Saturday's action with a combined 18 team points to finish in a tie for 15th place overall.  Oklahoma Baptist won the team title with 101.5 points, while Concordia (Ore.) finished second with 81 points. 

Bulldog senior Sara Retzlaff (Pierce, Neb.) gave a strong showing in the Discuss as Retzlaff delivered a throw of 141' 4''.  Her toss was good enough for an 11th place finish. 

Senior Christina Hanson (Storm Lake, Iowa) was the only other competitor for the women's team as she finished 13th in the Marathon with a time of 3:15:43.01.

Men's Recap
The Bulldogs' men's squad finished Saturday's action with a combined three team points to finish in a tie for 57th place overall.  Concordia had a highly successful showing, just missing team points on several occasions. Shorter College (GA) won the team title with 93 points, while Azusa Pacific (Calif.) finished second with 69 points. 

Sophomore John Cartier (Las Vegas, Nev.) took the track for the semi-final round of the 200m Dash.  Cartier posted a time of 22.52 to finish 15th.  Cartier did not advance to the event finals. 

Concordia's final two athletes competed in the men's Shot Put.  Senior Derek Rodine (Polk, Neb.) and Jose Rojas (Nogales, Ariz.) gave their best effort as Rodine finished 12th overall with a toss of 53' 2.25''.  Rojas, meanwhile, placed 22nd with a toss of 49' 1.75''.
