Bulldogs send 27 athletes to NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships

The Concordia University Outdoor Track and Field team will be represented by 27 athletes at the 2012 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships from May 24-26 in Marion, Ind.

The event will be hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.

Four Bulldogs will be competing in multiple events, seniors Marlee Denton (Fremont, Neb.), Sara Retzlaff (Pierce, Neb.), Derek Rodine (Polk, Neb.) and sophomore John Cartier (Las Vegas, Nev.).  Denton will compete in the Hammer Throw and Javelin, while Retzlaff is in the Hammer Throw and Discuss.  Rodine is in the Shot Put and Hammer Throw, while Cartier will be running in the 200m and 400m Dash. 

Another Concordia highlight as the Bulldogs enter the National Championships is the Concordia hold three of the top four shot put throws by women this season.  Junior Katie Rich (Tilden, Neb.) is second in the nation with a season-best throw of 48 ft, 2 in.  Senior Lauren Eickemeyer (Houston, Texas) is third with a toss of 48 ft, 0.5 in and freshman Brittany Erdmann (Chanhassen, Minn.) 47 ft, 6.5 in. throw is fourth overall.
