Bulldogs claim 19 of 25 events in dual meet with Nebraska Wesleyan
The Concordia University, Nebraska track team took 19 of 25 events in a dual meet with Nebraska Wesleyan on Thursday, April 25.
Even more impressive, the Bulldogs didn't compete in two events.
Women's Highlights
Freshman Sara Simmons (Sumner, Neb.) tallied an impressive mark in the 100m hurdles, taking the event in 16.13. Simmons closest competitor, Brianne England of Nebraska Wesleyan, was well behind at 16.29.
In the 800m run it was junior Christina Tomka (Dodge, Neb.) earning the first place nod with a time of 2:26.00.
Rounding out the Bulldogs' track victories, junior Sarah Kortze (Rockford, Ill.) claimed the 5,000m run in 18:17.60.
In the field events, juniors Kellie Fegter (Holdrege, Neb.) Ashlee Brown (North Platte, Neb.) and sophomore Shelby Yelden (Seward, Neb.) shared the Pole Vault top spot at 3.38m. The trio went to a vault off, won by Yelden. Sophomore Lydia Pomerenke (Seward, Neb.), meanwhile, claimed the Long Jump at 5.10m
Additional Concordia winners included, Tracy Peitz (Triple Jump), senior Sara Retzlaff (Pierce, Neb.) in the Discus, sophomore Jamie Crouse (Belgrade, Neb.) in the Hammer Throw and senior Lauren Eickemeyer (Houston, Texas) in the Shot Put.
Men's Highlights
The Bulldogs men's team had nine individual winners, led by senior Derek Rodine (Polk, Neb.) Rodine earned victories in both the Hammer Throw (55.42m) and the Shot Put (14.72m).
Rounding out Concordia's field event victories, freshman Jose Rojas (Nogales, Ariz.) won the Discus Throw (45.19m), senior Nicholas Mann (Auburn, Neb.) took the Long Jump (6.73m), sophomore Carson Farr (Cambridge, Neb.) claimed the Pole Vault (4.40m) and junior Bryan Heidemann (Elk Creek, Neb.) brought home the High Jump (1.91m)
On the track it was sophomores John Cartier (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Jonathon Becker (Hartington, Neb.) taking the 400m Dash and 110m Hurdles. Cartier collected the 400m Dash in 48.31, while Becker needed just 15.33 to win the 110 Hurdles.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday, April 26 in the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
