Boellstorff’s NAIA-pacing mark leads to GPAC weekly honor

GPAC release

SEWARD, Neb. – For the fourth time during the 2014-15 athletic season, a thrower from the Concordia University track and field program has earned a weekly honor from the GPAC. On Wednesday, junior Cody Boellstorff was named the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. Other Bulldogs to receive the same award during indoor season included Stephanie Coley, Zach Lurz and Kali Robb.

Boellstorff becomes the latest honoree from a deep stable of Concordia throwers thanks to his program record-breaking toss of 205’ 8” (eclipsed his own record) in the hammer throw at the Wildcat Classic hosted by Wayne State College (March 27-28). The first-place toss ranks No. 1 on the NAIA leaderboard by more than 20 feet.

The native of Waverly, Neb., is a three-time All-American (twice in hammer; once in weight throw). He also competed shot put (11th, 46’ 6 ¾”) and the discus (23rd, 132’ 2”) at the Wildcat Classic.

Boellstorff and the Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they participate in the Loper Invite hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney. View the event schedule HERE.
