LINCOLN, Neb. – The Concordia University women’s tennis team remained in .500 in conference play by splitting its two GPAC matches held on neutral surfaces in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday. The Bulldogs toppled Mount Marty, 8-1, prior to dropping a decision by the exact same score to Northwestern in the afternoon.

First-year head coach Joel Reckewey’s women’s squad now sits at 4-10 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Concordia won four of the five contested singles matches in its tussle with the Lancers. Freshman Emily Meisinger moved to 4-1 in GPAC matches (at the time) with her 8-0 blanking of Carissa Koepe at No. 4 singles. Seniors Grace Hollenbeck (No. 2) and Elyse Kohl (No. 3) and freshman Alison Ebel (No. 5) also claimed singles victories. Each of the three doubles matches were defaulted by Mount Marty (0-5 GPAC).

Freshman Hannah Boe recorded the lone victory over the Red Raiders. She defeated Anna Haler, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 6 singles. Both Hollenbeck (No. 2) and Ebel (No. 5) came up short in their 10-set tiebreakers. Meisinger fell for just the second time in conference play, 6-1, 6-2, to Valerie Robinson at No. 4.

Northwestern (10-6, 5-2 GPAC) swept through doubles. The most hotly contested battle came at No. 1, where Frankie Eszes and Terry Odera held off Hollenbeck and freshman Annie Horn, 8-6.

The Bulldogs close the regular season on Monday when they host a women’s and men’s doubleheader with Doane (M: 7-5, 3-1 GPAC, W: 3-10, 1-4 GPAC). First serve is set for 4 p.m. from the on-campus tennis courts.
