Concordia shutout by Nebraska Wesleyan, 2-0, in non-conference affair
The Concordia University, Nebraska, baseball team suffered a 2-0 loss to Nebraska Wesleyan in a non-conference game on Wednesday, April 11.
Following the loss the Bulldogs are 19-20 on the season, while Nebraska Wesleyan moved to 9-15 overall.
Concordia was unable to take advantage of a strong performance from junior Jeremiah Luber (Waverly, Neb.) on the hill as the Bulldogs were limited to just three hits in the contest. Making just his third start of the season, Luber delivered a season-high 5.2 innings. He allowed only two runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk.
The Bulldogs bullpen was even better as three Concordia relievers held Nebraska Wesleyan to one hit in 2.1 innings.
Luber fell to 1-1 on the season with the loss, while Matt Schommer also moved to 1-1 with the win. Schommer held the Bulldogs to two hits and two walks in seven innings.
Concordia junior Kyle Ivanoff (Tucson, Ariz.) had two of the Bulldogs' three hits, while freshman Sean McCartney (Greeley, Colo.) had the other.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday, April 14 as Concordia faces Dordt College in a doubleheader in Sioux City, Iowa at 1 p.m.
