Rodehorst collects Capital One Academic All-District, scholar-athlete recognition

CoSIDA release

SEWARD, Neb. – Two-time GPAC all-conference golfer Shawn Rodehorst received two more honors on Thursday as he was named to the Capital One Academic All-District® 3 At-Large First Team of the College Division and tabbed a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete. A business administration major, Rodehorst has been named both all-district and a scholar-athlete for the first time in his career.

Academic all-district teams, “selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All-America teams programs since 2011.”

The district 3 at-large team of the college division encompasses all schools in the states of Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, S.D. and Wisconsin and includes 16 total honorees. That number is comprised of male athletes from golf, tennis, swimming, volleyball and wrestling.

With a cumulative GPA of 3.74, Rodehorst is one of 114 NAIA men's golf scholar-athletes. This season the native of Kearney, Neb., led the Bulldogs with an average score of 78.8 over 16 rounds. He recorded eight top-20 finishes in 12 meets.

As a First-team Academic All-District® honoree, Rodehorst advances to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced the first week of June.
