A trio of Bulldogs lead the way on day one at Nebraska Intercollegiate

NORFOLK, Neb. – Bulldog men’s golf continued a busy week of action with day one of the Nebraska Intercollegiate Meet on Friday. Concordia sits in seventh place out of the nine-team field after shooting a team score of 324. The meet will conclude with round two on Saturday when the action picks up at 9 a.m.

Freshman Josh Hinrichs and sophomore Sam Simonson tied at the top of the Concordia lineup as both carded 79s – placing them 18th on the individual leaderboard. The rest of the varsity quintet included freshman Jared Knoepfel (T-31st – 82), junior Shawn Rodehorst (T-39th – 84) and sophomore Brock Colclasure (T43rd – 86).

Bulldog junior Sam Mayhall, golfing as an individual at the tournament, also shot a 79 to equal Hinrichs and Simonson. In addition, sophomore Garrett Suchanek notched an 85 to complete Concordia’s representation at the meet.

The field of teams includes current frontrunners in the University of Nebraska-Kearney (1st – 289), Midland (2nd – 302) and Hastings (3rd – 307) among other Nebraska institutions.

Following Saturday’s round at the Nebraska Intercollegiate, the Bulldogs will conclude the fall season on Monday at GPAC Qualifier No. 2 in Lincoln, Neb.  Concordia is tied for ninth in the conference after shooting a 317 at the first qualifier. Individually, Hinrichs sits in a tie for 10th with his first-round 75. Rodehorst shot a 78 to tie for 24th.
