SEWARD, Neb. – Seventeen of 19 Concordia University varsity squads were named 2013-14 NAIA Scholar-Teams, as announced by the NAIA on Tuesday. Bulldog athletics came in two off of the national leader, ranking in a tie for fourth among all NAIA institutions. The 17 scholar teams also tied for the most in the GPAC. Among all individual NAIA teams, Concordia women’s cross country came in No. 3 with a team GPA of 3.83.

Concordia led the GPAC in 2013-14 with 101 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes and leads the NAIA in all-time honorees with 1,020. This past season Concordia became the first school in NAIA history to eclipse 1,000 scholar-athletes. The Bulldogs also led the nation in 2013-14 scholar-athletes in the sports of men’s and women’s track and field, women’s soccer and volleyball.

In 2012-13 Concordia ranked fifth among all NAIA institutions with 17 scholar teams. The Bulldogs racked up 16 honors teams in 2011-12 and 18 (tied from the most in the NAIA) in 2010-11.

For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade-point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.
