SEWARD, Neb. – The Concordia University dance team made its first competition appearance of 2017 on Wednesday (Jan. 25) during halftime of the Bulldog women’s basketball game. In a dual with conference foe Hastings, first-year head coach Mandi Maser’s squad fell by a score of 75.7 – 74.

Said Maser, “The dancers are really coming together as a team and have improved so much from where we began back in September.”

The Concordia dance roster consists of 12 members, including two seniors, four juniors, four sophomores and two freshmen.

Competitive cheer and dance were approved as the 24th and 25th officially sponsored NAIA national championship sports in April of 2016. The 2017 NAIA Competitive Cheer & Dance National Championships are set to take place March 10-11 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The Bulldog dance team will also compete against Doane at halftime of the home women’s basketball game on Wednesday, Feb. 8. The GPAC Cheer and Dance Invitational will be held Feb. 11 in Hastings, Neb. Concordia dancers are also a regular part of the game day atmosphere, appearing prominently during such on-campus events as basketball, football, volleyball and wrestling.
