Little adds All-America honor to academic award

SEWARD, Neb. – One final honor has resulted from Nick Little’s stellar 2018 season on the mound. One day after being tabbed a CoSIDA Academic All-American, the Lithia, Fla., native landed on the list of honorable mention All-America selections unveiled on Tuesday (June 5) by the NAIA. Little is believed to be the first Concordia University baseball player to earn some form of All-America recognition during the GPAC era (2000-present).

The first-ever Bulldog to be selected as GPAC Pitcher of the Year, Little broke or equaled school records for wins (nine), innings pitched (91.1) and complete games (eight) this spring. He recorded a 2.36 ERA and 90 strikeouts while allowing 81 hits and 23 walks over his 12 starts. He covered at least seven innings in all but one outing.

SEWARD, Neb. – Named an Academic All-District selection on May 10, standout pitcher Nick Little was upgraded on Monday (June 4). Little appeared on the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® College Division Baseball Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Little is the first student-athlete in Concordia baseball history to receive Academic All-America accolades from CoSIDA.

The Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-America® Baseball Teams have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Little joined Jake Adams (2017) and Jaydee Jurgensen (2015) as Bulldog baseball players to earn Academic All-District honors during head coach Ryan Dupic’s tenure. The first-ever Bulldog to be selected as GPAC Pitcher of the Year, Little broke or equaled school records for wins (nine), innings pitched (91.1) and complete games (eight) this spring. He recorded a 2.36 ERA and 90 strikeouts while allowing 81 hits and 23 walks over his 12 starts. He covered at least seven innings in all but one outing. A sophomore from Lithia, Fla., Little is majoring in business administration.

Little is the third Concordia student-athlete to have been named an Academic All-American in 2017-18. The others were Hallick Lehmann (football) and Philly Lammers (women’s basketball). Since the beginning of 2012, Concordia has totaled 26 Academic All-Americans.
