Concordia, home of the Bulldogs

Concordia's intercollegiate athletic teams have answered to a variety of names, including the "Concordians," the "Blue and White," or even "the Teachers." It was In 1934, however, that the bulldog took its permanent place as the mascot of Concordia. After determining that some official name was needed, a campus-wide vote was held and the top choices on the ballot came down to the Bears, Hurricanes, Whippets, or Bulldogs.

In the years following, an English bulldog would be a part of team uniforms, helmets, homecoming and dorm decorations.Today, the tradition carries on with Bruiser, the two-legged costumed mascot, and by Gracie, an English bulldog.
