Elizabeth Grimpo taught at Concordia from 2000 to 2001 and rejoined the faculty in 2006, the same year she earned her doctorate in piano performance. Her principal teachers have been Julia Hennig and Paul Barnes; she has also studied organ with Steven Wente and Quentin Faulkner. As an undergraduate, she appeared as a soloist with the Concordia Wind Symphony, performing Kamilló Lendvay’s Piano Concertino and George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Upon graduating with honors in 1999 with a degree in music education and a certificate in piano pedagogy, she was named student laureate of her class. Later that year she was called back as a guest recitalist for the 1999 Lectures in Church Music. In 2006 she performed the Second Piano Concerto of Camille Saint-Saëns with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Symphony Orchestra.

Grimpo appears frequently as an accompanist for soloists, choirs, and instrumental ensembles. She has been an adjudicator for Nebraska Music Educators Association student festivals. She currently serves as organist and handbell choir director at Christ Lutheran Church in Lincoln, where she lives with her husband Phil and daughters Lydia and Christa.
