High school students from across the country performed in an honor choir and honor band as part of Musical Arts Day, Friday, Nov. 7, on the Concordia campus. The day culminated in an evening concert in the Physical Education Building.

Registration for Christmas at Concordia, an annual series of free concerts that feature various music ensembles from Concordia, opens Monday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. Tickets can be reserved at or by calling 402-643-7171. The concerts are open to the public, and reservations are required for admission.

The 16-voice Chamber Choir from Concordia returned from a 10-day tour of the upper western United States May 10-19. Tour stops include churches and schools in Iowa, South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming.

Concordia recently inducted four students into the Iota Nu chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda. The students were inducted into the national music honor society at the university’s spring honor recital.

The University Concert Band and Brass Ensemble gave a joint concert at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 28, at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Then, the Spring JazzFest opened at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2, in the Weller Hall auditorium. Finally, the Concordia Handbell Choir and Handbell Choir II performed a concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, in the Music Center’s recital hall. All concerts were open to the public at no charge.

Music filled the air this spring as four ensembles from Concordia performed end-of-the-semester concerts. On Sunday, April 27, the Male Chorus and Women's Chorale performed at St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Seward. On Monday, April 28, the University Concert Band and Brass Ensemble performed at St. John Lutheran Church, also in Seward.

The University Symphonic Band performed seven concerts at churches and schools during its annual tour. The band performed throughout Missouri and Illinois April 3–6 and at St. John Lutheran Church in its hometown of Seward on April 13.

Concordia’s Handbell Choir performed as part of the first-ever virtual handbell ensemble in September. A total of 440 bell ringers from 26 states and six countries recorded sound clips of the composition “Misterium” by James Meredith. The clips were then merged into one performance.

Concordia University, Nebraska’s premier vocal ensemble, the University A Cappella Choir toured Europe, performed in Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. The 24-day tour began May 11 and concluded June 3.
