Concordia University, Nebraska’s premier vocal ensemble, the University A Cappella Choir is currently touring Europe, performing in Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. The 24-day tour will run May 11-June 3. Forty singers, under the direction of Dr. Kurt von Kampen, will perform in 13 cities including Morges, Switzerland; Frankfurt, Kronach and Leipzig, Germany; Prague, Cesky Tesin and Ostrava, Czech Republic; Zilina, Slovakia; Cieszyn, Chorzow and Jelenia Góra, Poland; Vilnius Lithuania; and Riga, Latvia.

Concordia University, Nebraska music professor, Dr. Elizabeth Grimpo, recently completed writing My First Hymnal, accompaniment edition, which was published by Concordia Publishing House. Grimpo’s edition complements the popular children’s hymnal, My First Hymnal, published in 2011. That hymnal was so well-received by families and educators alike that CPH approached Grimpo about writing simple accompaniments of those hymns.

Concordia’s Male Chorus, Women’s Chorale, University Concert Band, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Vocal Jazz Choir and two handbell choirs will give concerts during the last week of April and first week of May. All performances are free and open to the public.

The Concordia University A Cappella Choir recently returned from a six-day tour of the Midwest. The choir will give two home concerts to close the tour on Sunday, April 21. The first concert will be at 3 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, located at 4325 Sumner St. in Lincoln, Neb. The final performance will begin at 7 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, located at 919 North Columbia Ave.

Concordia’s premier vocal ensemble, the University A Cappella Choir, will begin its annual spring tour on Thursday, April 10. The 73-member choir has scheduled performances at schools and churches in Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. All concerts are free and open to the public.

Concordia’s Chamber Choir visited Arizona for a five-day tour Jan. 31-Feb. 3. The choir performed eight concerts in four cities including Scottsdale, Tucson, Apache Junction and Phoenix, Ariz.

High school students from across the country performed in an honor choir and honor band as part of Musical Arts Day, Friday, Oct. 26, on the Concordia campus. The day ended with a concert in the Walz Human Performance Complex arena.

Concordia will host its annual Christmas at Concordia concerts Dec. 7-9. Performances will be Friday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, at 3 and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. All concerts are open to the public free of charge, but tickets are required.
