Two of Concordia’s student musicians were inducted into a music honor society on Thursday, April 19.

Concordia’s University Symphonic Band gave its final concert of the season on Friday, April 13, in the Seward High School auditorium.

Concordia’s premier vocal ensemble, the University A Cappella Choir, began its annual spring tour on Friday, March 9. The 70-member choir performed 10 concerts at schools and churches in Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas.

The University Symphonic Band from Concordia crossed the upper Midwest on a five-day tour Feb. 29-Mar. 4. The band began its tour in Nebraska and stopped in South Dakota and Minnesota.

Concordia’s A Cappella Choir wrapped up its spring tour with a home performance at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward on Sunday, March 25.

The Concordia Chamber Choir concluded its tour of the West Coast with a home concert on Sunday, Feb. 19, at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. The program featured several pieces composed by Concordia faculty and audience participation.

Concordia’s newest musical ensemble, the Chamber Orchestra, took the stage Thursday, March 8, for its third full concert of the season.

Concordia’s University Chamber Choir visited the West Coast for a five-day tour Feb. 9-13. The choir performed six concerts in three cities including Bakersfield, Victorville and Long Beach, Calif.

Six Concordia students shared their talents on the organ as part of St. Paul United Methodist Church’s “First Friday” noon-time concert series. Seniors Aaron Kortze, Rockford, Ill., Connie Kettner, Jacob, Ill., Sara Schultz, Wamega, Kan., Kathleen Bergt, Fairmont, Minn., and freshmen James Clausen, Hull, Iowa, and Peter Klinge, State Center, Iowa, performed on Friday, Feb. 3.

Four Concordia music ensembles shared vocal and instrumental music throughout the month of December. Audiences experienced jazz, classical and Christmas music performed at three concerts, all of which were free and open to the public.

A cherished Seward tradition for decades, Christmas at Concordia concerts were held Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3 and 4, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Seward. Multiple ensembles from the music department at Concordia took part in sharing the Christmas message.
