Two attend national SIFE summit in New York City
Two members of Concordia’s Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization attended a national SIFE summit in New York City on Feb. 7-8.
Junior Andrea Gaide of Lakewood, Colo., and senior Samantha Karnes of Lincoln, Neb., were nominated to attend the 2012 SIFE USA Partner Summit by Career Services director Corey Gray and SIFE adviser Dr. Kristy Plander.
“I believe they are two very strong leaders at the top of the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) club on campus,” said Gray. “Any opportunity these two have to learn from a national panel and bring back to Concordia would be great, and I felt these two would be the right people for that task.”
Gaide and Karnes were selected based on their submission of outstanding essays and resumes. More than 80 applicants applied for the summit, but only 30 spots were available.
“We were surprised and elated that Concordia students received two of the available spots given the selectivity of the event,” said Plander.
During the summit, Gaide and Karnes heard from two keynote speakers and observed a panel of SIFE directors from all over the world.
“I was excited for the networking opportunities and chance to meet and be impacted by so many successful people,” said Gaide.
