Concordia’s nursing director receives award
Molly Fitzke, Concordia’s assistant professor of nursing, was honored as a recipient of the “40 under 40” award by the Nebraska Action Coalition at a reception on Sept. 13, held at Bryan LGH Health Center in Lincoln, Neb.
The award celebrates young nurses who show expertise in the nursing field, adhere to high ethical standards, and lead within their profession, organization and community.
“I was truly honored and blessed to receive the ‘40 under 40’ nurse leader award and stand side-by-side with the other 39 amazingly talented nurse leaders throughout the State of Nebraska,” said Fitzke.
Fitzke serves as the director of Concordia’s RN to BSN program, which is set to launch in January, 2013. “The best part of the award is representing and discussing our new RN to BSN program at Concordia,” Fitzke added.
A native of Saginaw, Mich., Fitzke taught courses in several nursing programs in Lincoln and Omaha before coming to Concordia. Her 19 years of clinical nursing background include medical-surgical, oncology, hospice, intensive care, and trauma surgery – specializing in pediatrics surgery.
The Nebraska Action Coalition was formed in 2011 to address the future of healthcare in Nebraska through nurse-led collaborative partnerships.
