The Marxhausen Gallery of Art at Concordia is hosting a Bachelor of Fine Art Thesis Exhibition containing the work of five student artists. The exhibit opened Sunday, April 21, and will run through May 8. An opening reception for the exhibit will be Sunday, April 28, from 1 to 4 p.m., with an exhibit talk by the artists at 2 p.m. in the gallery. The public is invited to attend, free of charge.

Concordia student Grace Hollenbeck earned the Best of Show award 2013 O’Keefe Elevator Company Art Show in Omaha, Neb., on April 11. Hollenbeck is a sophomore in Concordia’s art education program. Five other Concordia students also were honored at the show.

Artwork by 62 Concordia students is currently on display in the Marxhausen Gallery of Art on the Concordia campus. Student art honors and scholarships were also announced at the exhibit’s opening reception April 7. The show will run through Friday, April 19, and is open to the public, free of charge.

The work of four high school artists became part of Concordia’s permanent art collection after being selected for purchase prizes during the Juried High School Art Show hosted by Concordia’s art department on March 22.

High school students were invited to get creative at Concordia's Experience Art Day on Friday, March 22, and Saturday, March 23. Participants had the opportunity to explore Concordia’s art department and take lessons from art professors.

Concordia’s art department offered a set of Saturday morning art sessions for elementary students this spring. The sessions, held March 23-April 27 were taught by students majoring in elementary education and art department staff.

The Concordia art department hosted faculty exhibition in the Marxhausen Gallery of Art. The exhibit opened Feb. 17 and ran through April 5.

Concordia hosted “ISMS: Concordia's Permanent Collection in Context” in the Marxhausen Gallery of Art from Jan. 14 to Feb. 15. An opening reception was held Sunday, Jan. 27, with an exhibit talk in Thom Leadership Education Center auditorium.

Senior art education major Anna Meyer displayed her Bachelor of Fine Art thesis work at Concordia. Meyer’s art show opened Dec. 2 remained in the Marxhausen Gallery of Art until Dec. 17.

Concordia’s art department is offering Saturday morning sessions for elementary students to learn about and create art. The sessions are taught by students majoring in elementary education and art department staff.

Art students from Concordia displayed their work at the annual Student Art Exhibit in the Marxhausen Gallery of Art. As part of the event, Concordia’s art department announced awards and yearly scholarship recipients on April 15 at the opening reception for the exhibition, which ran through May 2.

The works of four young artists will soon be prominently displayed on the walls of Concordia’s Thom Leadership Education Center. The pieces were selected from 128 works of art submitted for Concordia’s inaugural Juried High School Art Exhibition on March 23.

Three Concordia art students have received special recognition for their work. Crystal Bauer’s video was selected as part of the Little Waves Show exhibit. Kaylie Mellema and Jessica Wagner will have photographs featured in Nikon USA’s publication Best of College and High School Photography 2012.

High school artists had the chance to get creative at Concordia’s Experience Art Day on Friday, March 23, and Saturday, March 24.

The art department at Concordia hosted two visiting artists on March 1& 2. Artists David and Teresa Harris spoke on their experiences as artists.

Concordia’s Associate Professor of Art Don Robson currently has two works from his Matriarch Series on display in an exhibit in the Hartnett Hall Gallery on the campus of Minot State University. The Northwest Art Center’s “Americas 2012: Paperworks” exhibition is an annual international juried art show.
