“What the Void Can Hold,” the newest art exhibition at Concordia’s Marxhausen Gallery, will open Nov. 3. An opening reception for the exhibition is set for 1-3 p.m. on Nov. 10, with a gallery talk by Alex Priest at 2 p.m. in the Thom Leadership Education Center auditorium. Priest is guest curator of the show and he serves as the exhibition assistant at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art in Omaha, Neb. The exhibit will run through Dec. 18.

Joshua Smith, a member of Concordia’s Department of Art, presented his first faculty art exhibition this fall. The exhibit, titled “Traces of Place: Recent Sculpture by Joshua Ray Smith,” was open throughout the month of October.

The art department at Concordia invites elementary students to participate in Saturday morning art sessions. The sessions, taught by Concordia students majoring in elementary education, encourage youth in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade to learn about and create art.
