Concordia University, Nebraska students Preston Sunderman and Drew Oswald presented papers April 27 at the Great Plains Undergraduate Theology Conference held at Sioux Falls Seminary in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Two of Concordia’s student musicians were inducted into a music honor society on Thursday, April 19.

The science department at Concordia gave special awards to nine students at its end-of-the year banquet and awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 18. Scholarship recipients and other honorees were announced during the event.

Concordia has announced the recipients of this year’s President’s Scholarships, its most prestigious academic award for incoming students. The renewable scholarship is worth $15,000 a year for a possible total of $60,000 over four years. Recipients of the award meet the highest academic standards, including very high grade point averages and ACT scores of at least 31. In addition, they must maintain grade point averages of 3.5 or higher throughout their college careers.

Three honor societies at Concordia inducted new members during ceremonies on Wednesday, April 25. The societies recognize outstanding students in the areas of English, communications and theatre arts.

Concordia held its 105th commencement ceremony Saturday, May 5, in the Walz Human Performance Complex.

Five individuals were recognized with honorary degrees and awards at Concordia’s commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 5.

Art students from Concordia will display their work at the annual Student Art Exhibit until May 2 in the Marxhausen Gallery of Art. As part of the event, Concordia’s art department announced awards and yearly scholarship recipients on April 15 at the opening reception for the exhibition.

This fall students at Concordia will say Nǐ Hǎo to new courses in first-year Mandarin Chinese. Enrolled students will learn about the culture of the People’s Republic of China in addition to adding language skills.

The Center for Liturgical Art at Concordia is known for creating beautiful stained glass and sanctuary furnishings for churches across America. But artists recently took on a different sort of project – making artwork for a hospital.

Twenty-two students gave presentations as part of Concordia’s second annual Student Research Symposium on March 28. Students who had completed research projects as part of class assignments presented on topics including the relationship between lifestyle and self-esteem, ballistics and gunshot testing, and perspectives on education, among others.

A mock arrest was made March 30 at Concordia as students from this year’s Academy for Excellence unraveled a fictional crime mystery pitting a Boy Scout troop leader against Girl Scout cookie sellers.

Eleven of Concordia’s premier musicians performed in the spring honor recital April 19.

Nearly 1,000 youth attended the 68th annual Gathering of the Talents hosted by Concordia on Saturday, April 14. Participating students represented numerous Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod churches, elementary and middle schools throughout the Midwest.

Concordia’s annual Way of the Cross devotion will take place Tuesday, April 3 at 8 p.m. This hour-long experience will begin at Weller Hall and conclude in a time of prayer and reflection at Concordia’s outdoor chapel.

The works of four young artists will soon be prominently displayed on the walls of Concordia’s Thom Leadership Education Center. The pieces were selected from 128 works of art submitted for Concordia’s inaugural Juried High School Art Exhibition on March 23.

Seven music ensembles from Concordia gave concerts at the end of the spring semester.

Concordia’s IMPROVables comedy troupe entertained audiences at its final performances of the year. The troupe gave two shows on April 28 in the Music Center’s Studio Theatre.
