Concordia University, Nebraska, hosted high school honor choir and band students for Musical Arts Day on Friday, Oct. 28.

There were 207 students selected to participate out of more than 300 who auditioned. Members of Concordia’s A Cappella Choir and Symphonic Band assisted with rehearsals throughout the day and performed with the students in an evening concert.

The honor choir was directed by Dr. Kurt von Kampen, Professor of Music and Music Department Chair of Concordia University. The honor band was directed by Andrew Schultz, assistant professor of music at Concordia University.

“Through the years, thousands of high school students have experienced the joy of making music—and performing to the glory of God—with talented conductors and college musicians,” said von Kampen.

The Musical Arts Day event began in 1999 by von Kampen and continues each year. The event was free and open to the public.
