Students inducted, honored in health and human performance honor society

Concordia seniors Nicole Perry (left) and Daniel Heiser (right) were inducted into Concordia’s chapter of Phi Epsilon Kappa, a national honor society, on April 19.

Two health and human performance students were inducted into Concordia University, Nebraska’s chapter of Phi Epsilon Kappa, a national honor society, on April 19. The inductions also included the recognition of PEK scholars.

Seniors Daniel Heiser and Nicole Perry were inducted into the society for their outstanding academic achievement and involvement in health and human performance as students.

The ceremony also included the presentation of special awards. Tanel Baehr, Brendan Buchanan, Marcie Sindt, Morgan Vitosh and Timothy von Behren were recognized as PEK scholars and received the national scholarship certificate. In addition, Baehr was the recipient of Concordia’s Chapter Scholar Award and received a monetary award from the national organization.

Phi Epsilon Kappa Fraternity is a national professional fraternity for persons engaged in or pursuing careers in physical education, health, recreation, dance, human performance, exercise science, sports medicine and sports management. 

According to phiepsilonkappa.org, "PEK offers students the opportunity to connect now and throughout their professional careers with like-minded individuals who share their passion for health and human performance. Those connections include opportunities to connect to, and participate in, current research in the field of health and human performance and to work with the professionals conducting it.”

Concordia’s chapter of PEK is led by professors Dr. Vicki Boye, Chris Luther, Patti Jensen and Nicole Vogel.
