The men’s team “The Order of the Phoenix” performed a skit as part of its competition during Spring Weekend at Concordia University, Nebraska April 24–26, 2015.

Students, faculty and staff came together for friendly competition, skits, activities and laughs during Concordia University, Nebraska’s annual Spring Weekend.

“Spring weekend is a great event because of the tradition and the long history that it is connected to,” said Rehema Kavugha, director of student development. “It is always at the end of the year, which can be a crazy time, but it’s great to have an event like this that lots of students, faculty and staff either participate in or come and watch to bring community together.”

The weekend activities included a variety of judged or timed events such as a lip sync, obstacle course, synchronized swimming competition in baby pools, scavenger hunt, food eating contest and video contest.

The theme for the weekend was “I Do @ CU.” Teams formed groups of 12 and competed against other boys’ or girls’ teams and created storylines based on the theme. Some teams’ stories included pirates, monks, freshmen at Concordia and more.

Several faculty and staff members helped judge the competitions. The judges included Charles Blanco, Bruce Creed, Charles Gebhardt, Julie Johnston Hermann, Corrie Johnson, Beth Pester, Tim Rippstein, Brent Royuk, Lynn Soloway, Kurt von Kampen.

This year’s winning women’s team was “I Have to @ CU.” Members included Rachel Cutler, Devin Edwards, Kara Einspahr, Meredith Hein, Ashley Kuntz, Adrienne Langewisch, Bailey Morris, Shelby Quinn, Alicia Royuk, Rachel Royuk and Erin Vieselmeyer.
