The annual Pink Week volleyball game at Concordia invites students and community members to show support for October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year’s Pink Week game is scheduled for Oct. 19.

Pink Week activities will take place Oct. 17-21 on the Concordia University, Nebraska, campus in honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“Pink week is a great opportunity for the Concordia community to raise awareness for breast cancer and help support families who have been affected by the disease,” says Rehema Kavugha, Director of Student Development. “It has been a blessing to partner with Concordia’s health and wellness center, the university’s volleyball team and the Community Building Committee student group for the last four years to make this series of activities a campus-wide event.”

The Pink Week volleyball games versus Doane University will begin with junior varsity at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity team at 7:30 p.m. Both games will take place in Walz Arena on Oct. 19.

Pink t-shirts can be purchased for $10 in the Student Life Office through Oct. 19. Additionally, 10 private lessons with the Bulldog volleyball players will be auctioned off at the match. Profits from both fundraisers will be going to the Pink Bandanas non-profit organization that helps families from Nebraska who have been affected by breast cancer. There will also be numerous giveaways during the games.

In addition to the annual Pink Week volleyball game, student activities during the week include a “Find the Flamingos” scavenger hunt game, a girls-only pajama party to learn about women’s health issues and a Bongo Ball Mania event.
