Four students from Concordia University, Nebraska took part in the sixth annual Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) national marketing competition April 7, 2017, in St. Louis, Missouri.
They four students worked together throughout the semester to create and present a comprehensive marketing plan to the judging panel. They presented a marketing plan called “Giving your History a Future.” The plan used data from the Lutheran Annual and lists of Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod conferences to craft a communication plan that included a contest where congregations could win a professionally produced video about the history of their church and its building. They also created a fully integrated conference display that LCEF sales people can use to promote products at conferences, aided by contests and bibelots for conference goers.
Nine other schools from the Concordia University system participated in the event and were awarded cash prizes ranging from $5,000 for first place to $750 for participation.
Concordia students who participated in the competition include:
- David Geidel, sophomore, Hesston, Kan.
- Curtis Byal, junior, Louisville, Ky.
- Jeremy Rodriguez, senior, Kansas City, Mo.
- Emma Jacoby, junior, Lincoln, Neb.
