Jan Brett brings her book tour for “The Turnip” to Seward, with special events for families on Dec. 8, 2015.

Children’s book author Jan Brett is coming to Concordia University, Nebraska, as part of her fall tour and a special event hosted by the Plum Creek Children's Literacy Festival and Chapter's Books and Gifts of Seward. Brett will participate in a special family event, including a 15-minute drawing illustration and presentation and a book signing, on Dec. 8, 2015, at 6 p.m. in Weller Hall at Concordia. All of Brett’s books will be on sale during the event, including her new book, “The Turnip."

The event is free, and the public is invited to attend; however, seats are limited, and tickets are required to guarantee a seat in Weller Hall for the presentation and a spot in the book signing line. Tickets will have numbers, and families will line up for signing according to ticket numbers.

Interested community members can check availability of tickets by calling the Plum Creek Literacy Festival office on Concordia’s campus at 402-643-7483, sending an email to dylan.teut@cune.edu or stopping by Chapters Books and Gifts in Seward.

Brett’s tour bus will be parked in front of Weller Auditorium at 5 p.m. on the night of the event. It is wrapped in artwork from “The Turnip.” Families are welcome to take a photograph next to the bus.

In addition, families can take photos with Hedgie, Brett’s favorite friend from "The Mitten and The Hat.”
