Center for Liturgical Art project helps light Prairie Fire

Article Body
The Center for Liturgical Art at Concordia created an artwork used in worship at the Prairie Fire event held Aug. 4 by the Nebraska District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. Hundreds of small clay objects -- "shards" -- were glazed and shared with conference participants as they entered the opening worship service.

Participants were invited to take a shard home with them as a symbol of the conference and as an artwork that could be used as conversation-starter about their faith.

Two Concordia students, Liz Hinkle and Kjersten Langewisch, and Mark Anschutz, the Center for Liturgical Art's artist in residence, worked to create the shards.
