The Center for Liturgical Art at Concordia created an artwork used in worship at the Prairie Fire event held Aug. 4 by the Nebraska District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. Hundreds of small clay objects -- "shards" -- were glazed and shared with conference participants as they entered the opening worship service. Participants were invited to take a shard home with them as a symbol of the conference and as an artwork that could be used as conversation-starter about their faith.
Two Concordia students, Liz Hinkle and Kjersten Langewisch, and Mark Anschutz, the Center for Liturgical Art's artist in residence, worked to create the shards.
