Article Body

Concordia's handbell choirs will offer a spring concert Sunday, May 4, at 3 p.m. in the Thom Leadership Education Center auditorium on campus. Everyone is welcome to this free concert.

The choirs are directed by Jessica Kite, adjunct faculty, and will perform "In Christ Alone," "Pizzicati," Bach's "Little Fugue in G Minor" and a selection of Lent and Easter hymns. Multiple techniques for ringing and striking the bells will be used.

"The popularity of handbell ringing in America has really taken off in just the last 30 years or so," said Kite. "It is fun to do, and our handbell choirs play in chapel, area churches and community functions, and give their own concerts on campus. One of our goals is to give students experience in ringing and learning how to go about directing a handbell choir when they go out to schools and churches after they graduate."
