"A Satellite for Koln: Recent Works on Paper by James Bockelman" is currently on exhibit at the Walker Art Gallery located on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Kearney. The show opened Monday, Jan. 14, and will run through Friday, Feb. 15. A closing reception and gallery talk are scheduled for Feb. 15 at 5 p.m.
Bockelman, associate professor of art at Concordia, has featured several large scale drawings on paper as well as a number of smaller works in the exhibit. Made by combining graphite, acrylic and beeswax, the drawings trace his interest in a series of photographs that were taken shortly after Cologne, Germany was bombed during the Second World War. The artwork incorporates various views of the cathedral, as well as artifacts and photographs he collected while visiting the city.
The Walker Art Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 p.m.- 4:30 p.m.
