Charista Zehnder was honored by the GPAC on Feb. 4 for her efforts at the Doane Nisely Memorial Classic. Zehnder was named women’s field athlete-of-the-week.
Zehnder, a senior from Omaha, won the triple jump with a leap of 37’ 5”. The jump was an NAIA qualifying mark as well as a GPAC leading mark. She also placed second in the long jump with a mark of 18’ 7 ¼”. That measurement qualified her for nationals and was a GPAC-leading mark.
She also ran the 55 meter dash at the Nisely Classic, and her time of 7.22 seconds qualified her for nationals. All three of Zehnder’s marks rank in the top five in the NAIA so far this year.
