The Concordia University indoor track and field teams took part in the Scott Nisely Memorial Track Classic over the weekend in Crete.
Charista Zehnder had a huge day to lead the way for the Bulldog women. She won the triple jump with a leap of 37’ 5”, which is a NAIA qualifying mark and GPAC leading mark. She finished second in the long jump with a jump of 18’ 7 ¼”. Her long jump is also a NAIA qualifying mark and GPAC leading mark. Zehnder also finished second in the 55 meter dash. Her preliminary time of 7.22 (coverts to a 60 meter time of 7.75) is a NAIA national qualifying time and the fastest time in the GPAC so far this season. Zehnder’s marks in the three events rank in the top five in the NAIA this season.
Kellie Fegter took first place in the pole vault with a mark of 11’ 7”. Tierra Hubbard won the weight throw with a toss of 54’ 10”. Lauren Eickemeyer was second in the shot put with a toss of 44’ 8”, and Hubbard was right behind in third place at 44’ ¼”.
Martha Meineke finished second in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 3:09.08, while Alicia Marteney and Rebecca Mol finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 1,000 meter run. Ann Hershberger was second in the one mile run with a time of 5:25.21. Sarah Kortze (5:27.48) was third, and Hannah Ferry (5:28.75) was fourth in the mile. Jena Schwalenberg finished in third place in the 800 meter run at 2:22.82.
For the Concordia men, Matt Trampe finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:01.59. Derrick Woods earned a second place finish in the 55 meter hurdles at 7.76 seconds. Brady Betten was fourth in the 600 meter run at 1:26.96, and Joseph Furr was close behind in fifth place with a time of 1:27.32. In the 1,000 meter run, Colin Morrissey finished fourth at 2:37.12.
In the field events, Josh Tonniges finished second in the pole vault at 15’ 5”. Dan Uden was third in the long jump with a top mark of 22’ 9 ¾”, and Drew Rodine finished third in the triple jump at 45’ 11 ¼”. James Refenes took second place in the weight throw with a toss of 57’ 10 ½”.
