The Concordia University women captured the CIT title for the third straight year with a 76-68 win over Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday evening.  It’s the 22nd CIT championship overall for the Bulldogs.  Concordia improved to 16-8 on the year with the win, while the host Falcons dropped to 12-7 on the year with the loss. 

The game remained tightly contested throughout much of the first half.  The Bulldogs used an 18-7 run to close the half to take a 43-28 lead into halftime.  Concordia was 15-of-25 from the field, while the Falcons connected on just 9-of-24 shots in the opening half of play.   

Early in the second half, the Bulldogs created even more separation.  Concordia led by as many as 23 on multiple occasions in the final 20 minutes.  Concordia Wisconsin’s late rally attempt wasn’t enough, and the Bulldogs settled for the 76-68 victory.

Concordia was 26-of-57 from the field for 45.6 percent in the win.  The Bulldogs were 6-of-19 from three point land for 31.6 percent and 18-of-25 at the charity stripe for 72 percent.  The Bulldog defense forced Concordia Wisconsin into 20 turnovers on the night. 

Stacy Scheer scored 14 points to lead the way for the Bulldogs in the win.  Kristin Miller added 13 points and seven boards, and Katie Rich also reached double figures with 10 points.  TaLisa Krejci and Angela Kuca scored eight points apiece in a balanced Concordia attack. 

Concordia Wisconsin was 22-of-54 from the field for 40.7 percent.  The Falcons hit 3-of-7 attempts from long range and were 21-of-26 from the foul line for 80.8 percent. 

Pearl Wallace scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead CUW.  Brittany Zietlow added 13 points and a game-high seven assists for the Falcons. 

Concordia hosts No. 2 Hastings College on Feb. 3.  The tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Health, Human Performance and Athletic Center.
